ABOUT
The Petunia Patch (main house) has two separate rental accomodations- the Balcony Suite and the Garden Suite. A third rental accomodation, Sweet Pea, is a separate, little cottage on the same property. Just a short walk from the cottages are restaurants, shops, and a lovely ocean beach. All amenities are within walking distance, including the ferry, bike and boat rentals, shuttle bus, tennis courts, grocery store and bakeries. Hop on the bike path and pedal to Edgartown - an especially beautiful early morning ride along the beach.
The special magic of the town of Oak Bluffs will capture your imagination!

Oak Bluffs Harbor
Take a daytime or evening stroll along the Oak Bluffs marina and pick out your dream yacht! Oak Bluffs has the largest island harbor and is always a busy, exciting place during the summer months. Some of the town’s best restaurants, ice cream shops, and bars are along the harbor. One of the nicest things is an evening stroll by the harbor with your honey or your family. First buy an ice cream cone and then meander along the long wharf, enjoying the sunset and the sights. Return to The Petunia Patch via the Campground and catch glimpses of the lighted interiors of the sweet little cottages.

There are big horses on the outside for the older kids and adults, and small horses on the inside for the rookies. Try your luck at catching the brass ring, and win a free ride! The Flying Horses is one of the few carousels in the country that still has a ring machine, and both inside and outside riders can catch rings while merrily spinning to the music. Go ahead, give it a whirl!

Take a stroll to the “Campground” and you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped into a Victorian fairy tale! Oak Bluffs became a mecca for travelers from around the world as early as the beginning of the 1800‘s. It also became a center for the 19th century Methodist movement. In the area known as the Martha's Vineyard Campground Meeting Association or “The Campground,” members of the Methodist church would come each summer to pitch tents and have open air meetings. Over time, these meetings became increasingly more popular and members began replacing their tents with small wooden structures that are now known as Gingerbread Cottages. This fanciful name originated from the ornate molding and bright, pretty colors of these lovely cottages that remind visitors of storybook dwellings. The campground cottages developed in a circular pattern around the meeting area. A need for a more permanent structure arose and the Tabernacle was built at the Campground’s center. The Tabernacle was a covered, open-sided structure that allowed speakers and meeting attendees to escape the elements. The Tabernacle has recently been renovated but still maintains its original look and purpose. Today, this beautiful structure hosts religious services, concerts, sing-a-longs, art shows, and many more community activities.

West Tisbury
West Tisbury has many points of interest for nature lovers. Cedar Tree Neck sanctuary offers unspoiled woods, with a freshwater pond and brooks, and is bounded by North Shore Beach. Picnics, fishing, and bathing are not permitted, but there are marked trails for those who enjoy bird-watching and gentle hikes. The Polly Hill Arboretum boasts more than two hundred species of trees, beautiful flower gardens, and a picnic area. Tours are available.
Edgartown
Stroll the lanes of Edgartown and check out the magnificent historic homes of 19th century whaling captains. Edgartown is a great place to shop with many boutiques and eclectic little shops. Dining is a great experience with many restaurants to choose from, some right on the harbor. The stately Whaling Church is a lovely landmark, as is the Edgartown lighthouse with its nearby beach.
Chappaquiddick
Known as “Chappy” to most Islanders is a separate 3-mile wide island. A small Edgartown ferry provides a shuttle for car, bike, and foot passengers. Chappy is the ideal beach destination for those seeking seclusion and pristine island views. While on Chappy, explore the Mytoi Garden, a serene botanical oasis.
Menemsha
Chilmark is about a thirty minute drive from Oak Bluffs, but the journey will be most memorable! Winding, tree-lined Island roads traverse bucolic farmlands which give way to breath-taking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Chilmark has a very small town center, but the Chilmark Store is a favorite of Vineyarders and celebrities alike. Grab a slice of the Chilmark Store’s famous pizza, and enjoy it while rocking in a chair on the rustic front porch. Travel a little further down the road, and you’ll discover the quaint fishing village of Menemsha. Menemsha is known its fresh seafood and exquisite sunsets. Here you can buy a cooked lobster, cracked and ready to be eaten with melted butter on the beach!
