  • Library Story Hour

    The Oak Bluffs Public Library and all public libraries on the island offer story hours for young children.  This is a good activity for a rainy day or when the kids have had too much sun.

  • Hiking

    The Martha’s Vineyard Landbank owns several hiking trails scattered throughout the island. Choose an inland or coastal trail and surprise yourself with the discovery of hidden beaches, quiet ponds, or unexpectedly breath-taking views.

  • The FARM Institute

    The FARM Institute, located in Katama, is a teaching farm aimed at teaching both kids and adults about sustainable agriculture. The FARM Institute offers various agricultural programs in every season, and hosts visits and field trips.  The Wee Farmer Program, for kids ages 2-4, is designed to introduce young children to farm life, with activities related to animals and gardening

  • Felix Neck

    Felix Neck is a 350-acre wildlife sanctuary where kids can explore forest, field, marsh, fresh water pond and salt water habitat. In this beautiful setting, they can observe and investigate the natural world of animals, plants and geology. 

  • The Island Alpaca Farm

    There are over 50 fuzzy and sometimes friendly alpaca at Island Alpaca and the farm is open to visitors. You can take a tour and later check out the store on site which stocks many products made from alpaca wool. 

  • Island Cove Mini Golf

    No vacation is complete without a round of mini golf! Check out the water-inspired miniature golf course in Vineyard Haven, and grab an ice cream cone while you’re there!

  • World of Reptiles and Birds

    Owned by Gus Ben David, an aviculturist, falconer and herpetologist, the World of Reptiles and Birds offers kids the opportunity to see up close rare snakes, lizards, reptiles, and birds of prey. Some special exhibits include the largest pythons on display in the United States, a giant tortoise, and an 8-foot Crocodile Lizard.

  • Sailing

    Climb aboard one of the Black Dog’s tall ships, and explore the island from the water during an afternoon or sunset sail. As a passenger, you can help the crew raise the sails or man the wheel with the captain!

  • Fishing

    Catch a fishing charter out of Oak Bluffs Harbor and let your kids try their luck at catching the big one! You’ll create life-long memories and you’ll have dinner too!

  • The Movies

    The Island Theater in Oak Bluffs is the perfect place to spend a rainy afternoon or summer evening. Step back in time when you enter this old-fashioned theater, get your buttered popcorn, find a seat and enjoy the show!
